Damascus, Syria – On Wednesday, the U.S.-led international coalition carried out 13 airstrikes against military units and armored vehicles of the Islamic State’s (IS/ISIL) militants in the countryside of Kobane, in northern Syria.
The coalition is making a concerted effort to push IS out of the countryside of Kobane, after Kurdish forces liberated the city from the militant group.
The aerial coverage by the U.S. and its partners helped Kobane’s defenders force the IS militants to withdraw from the entire city, while clashes moved to the countryside.
The recent airstrikes in the countryside of Kobane hit 12 military units of the radical group as well as an IS-manned vehicle.
“The strikes caused the destruction of nine fighting positions, a staging area and three buildings,” the anti-IS Combined Joint Task Force said in a statement on Wednesday.
